Every year since 2011 my family has gone to Oak Island for a beach week vacation. I’ve tried to use this week to RELAX, only be with family and catch up on taking photos of my boys. Of course, each year work always seems to creep into the picture! Except this time I actually did pretty well keeping my computer closed…mainly because I’m still running on fumes from a short maternity leave, but also because I know I NEED to. Now that Alice Jane is here I’m already having to take my attention away from the boys more often. And they are old enough to “get it” when I’m working or not around. I’ve been suuuuper slack about taking everyday photos of them – their milestones, interests and mannerisms: the things that made me pick up a camera in the first place. So I guess I try to make up for that each year with beach photos, but also the images that I take are some of my favorites over the years. It is amazing to look back only 2 and 3 years ago – the boys were so tiny! There are tons of imperfections in all of these photos, yet they all feel perfect to me because I am instantly taken back to that moment in time.
This year things got started off with a bit of a scare when there were 2 shark attacks on Monday, only a few streets down fro where we were staying. Thankfully that was the worst of it, even though it kept us mostly playing in the sand the rest of the week! The boys couldn’t have been happier though. Will had a blast digging canals and building castles. Charlie (our wild child) just wanted to run and jump and play. I caught so many photos of him jumping and running…poor kid wore himself out every day and passed out cold by 4pm! We also took the boys to play putt putt for the first time which was amusing (to say the least ;)). Alice was a sweet, happy baby despite the almost 100 degree temps. She turned 4 months old on Friday and (aside from the car rides to and from) she is pretty much the best baby ever. ❤ Here are some of my favorite moments from last week. Enjoy!
